Kitten Little Rescue Contract to Adopters
* All cats and kittens are tested for FELV (feline leukemia) and FIV (feline immunodeficiency virus). All are dewormed and treated for all other internal and external parasites and been given their pediatric vaccines. If a kitten is too young to have had all their vaccines, arrangements will be made to complete them.
* All kittens, if old enough, are neutered or spayed. If they are still too young, you will be directed to one of our private vets when they are ready for the surgery.
* The costs for testing, vaccines and surgery are covered in the $150.00 per kitten/cat adoption fee. The fee for pedigree or exotic cats is $200.00 per kitten/cat.
* If for any reason things do not work out, we ALWAYS take our animals back. Do not give the kitten or cat to your neighbor or friend or bring it to a shelter! We insist and want them returned to Kitten Little Rescue Inc. It can be a week, a year or six years later, but we will take them back!
Adopters' Contract to Kitten Little Rescue
* Be open and honest about your situation and what you are looking for in a cat/kitten. Give us the opportunity to match you up with a cat(s)/kitten(s) that will make your adoption a successful experience.
* Understand that Kitten Little Rescue wants both human and feline creatures to be happy! To achieve this, the cat/kitten needs to be in a safe and loving environment. Providing for the cat/kitten with the proper food, litter and kitten proof surroundings is essential.
* As an adopter, you agree to have in your home the specific food and litter as required by KLR and that you have kitty-proofed your household. This must take place prior to the actual delivery.
How It Works
* All of our cats/kittens are currently in foster homes. It is in these environments that they become socialized, teach each other manners and keep out of trouble. Because kittens play, sleep together, and keep each other company, we place them in pairs. When kittens have each other to play with, they are less likely to break or chew things, attack or bite you when they play, or keep you up all night. We also place single kittens, but always in a home with another cat(s), dog(s) or other companion animal(s) of a suitable age. We try to place older cats that enjoy the company of other animals in a home where they have animal companionship. But we also have cats that would be happy to be the only animal in your home!
* If you are interested in adopting, you will be interviewed and references will be checked before the kittens are delivered. A kitten or young cat can easily get itself into dangerous situations, so we will want to make sure that your home is a safe environment.
* Be prepared to spend some time with us, as the interview is educational and extensive. During the interview, food, litter, safe toys, preparing a safe environment and medical conditions are discussed. After the interview, when the adoption contract is signed and the adoption fee is paid, we set up a convenient time for delivery. All required supplies must be in the home before the actual delivery.
* One of our volunteers will come over to introduce your new friend into the household. There is always an adjustment period. Your other animal(s) suddenly have to share their space with a newcomer and it takes some time for all involved to feel comfortable in the new situation.
* Adoptions are followed up with a phone call a few days after delivery to see how things are going. We are always available to help resolve any issues that may arise. During the adjustment period we encourage you to keep in contact with the foster parent. This will give you the opportunity to ask questions and get feedback.
